Community Description

Cambridge was established in 1847 and has a rich history, from being settled by Scottish and Norwegian immigrants and childhood home of Arthur Davidson (yes of the Harley-Davidson) to one of the top 100 “Best Small Town Getaways in the Midwest” in 2007.
Cambridge has a charming Victorian era downtown with shops, boutiques and coffee shops offers a great backdrop for annual events and anchors the area countryside filled with art studios, seasonal markets, lakes, museums, parks and trail systems. Plus the Northside Business District features a variety of independent service businesses, dining and stores with area civic organizations all ready to lend a hand.
Cambridge is located on the Koshkonong Creek on US Highway 12 and 18 in Dane and Jefferson County. Milwaukee is about 62 miles to the east, Chicago lies 141 miles to the Southeast and Minneapolis-St. Paul is 284 miles to the northwest.
The total population is 1,457. Of this, 1,348 are in Dane County, and 109 are in Jefferson County.
